August 2021

It has been a decade since Sky Ranch for Boys, a residential treatment facility for at-risk youth, was closed and sold.  Proceeds from that sale, as well as donations from the Beverage Alcohol Industry, enabled the Foundation to continue our work by awarding grants to organizations with the same goal, helping these youth through a multitude of rehabilitative services.

Over the past 10 years the Foundation has awarded well over $4 million in grants. One such organization, Tucson, AZ-based Youth on Their Own (Yoto.org), was awarded a grant this year.

Every year, more than 62,000 children throughout Arizona find themselves displaced and unaccompanied through no fault of their own, ranking Arizona as the fifth worst state nationwide for child homelessness. For over 35 years, Yoto has supported this demographic by providing financial assistance, basic human needs, guidance and more, remarkably assisting more than 20,000 such youth toward high school graduation.

Marissa Washington, Senior Grants Manager for Yoto notes, “Sky Ranch Foundation’s℠ generous $12,500 grant helped 27 youth experiencing homelessness in Tucson, AZ stay in school by providing them with direct financial support!”

Foundation President, Ralph Aguera states, “We commend Yoto and their staff who work tirelessly to ensure that these youth have the opportunity to successfully complete their education. We are proud to have been instrumental in furthering their continued success”.
